(Budget 21-2022) 70,000 public housing flats to be built in five years

Land has been identified to build 316,000 public housing flats in the next 10 years, Paul Chan says.

“With the redevelopment of Hong Kong Housing Authority's factory estates, the number of public housing units may further increase.''

He estimates that the total public housing in the five years from 2020-21 at about 101, 400 flats, comprising over 70,000 public rental housing and Green Form Subsidised Home Ownership Scheme units and more than 30,000 other subsidized sale units.

As for private housing, he estimates that the completion of private residential units will be more than 18,000 units annually in the five years from 2021. This is an increase of about 5 percent over the annual average of the past five years.
