There's nothing that hits home for Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong quite like success with its online fund-raiser, which saw the nonprofit housing organization raise over HK$200,000.

Its Family FUNdraiser virtual event on February 18 came as demand for its services, ranging from the provision of hygiene products to deep cleaning services, surged since the beginning of the pandemic.

Board director Marie Claire Lim Moore wants more by "A Year of Giving" campaign to help grow its monthly donor base in aid of families with habitat issues.

Chief executive Jo Hayes said the organization has seen a steep increase in the number of families seeking assistance, rising to 4,000 last year from the usual 200 in the past.
